Just received a forwarded email from my MFA mentor, Roy Hoffman. This is beginning to feel like it's really going to happen. His email sparked the first ember of excitement in my chest. Until now, I've been anxious and the concept of the program has been abstract at best. Roy's letter to all of his mentees (is that a word), was warm, funny, encouraging and instructive.
At graduation last week, (my husband is Dean of Students at Spalding where my MFA program is housed), an MFA graduate who was being honored during the ceremony told my husband that the program was "transformative". I'm ready for a little transformation, I think.
