Yesterday I browsed an online mommy magazine, one I wish would publish my work, and discovered an essay by an alum from my college. I recognized her name, followed the bio link to her website, checked the photo and sure enough, it's her. We didn't know each other; I just have a scary recall for names and faces from the past.
Today I wrote her a comment on her website and she wrote back! She didn't think I was a stalker, so I lucked out. We've started a writing conversation via email and I'm pretty psyched. Her writing is funny, smart and mom-centered. I think she could be a great guide and she has offered me her ear.
In other news, I'm writing a new essay about Santa Claus.

ReplyDeleteTrue that (the white version of tru dat, which I refuse to write). However, this alum is from my undergrad college. So, we're talking 20 years ago. Why my brain remembers people who I never met 20 years ago, but can't remember the favor I promised my husband to do this morning is truly a mystery.
